The huge ray system emanating from the large impact crater Tycho is shown as the dominant feature on the southern hemisphere. The bronze-ish hue is produced by Rayleigh scattering as a result of the Moon being relatively close to the horizon at the time this image was captured. Author: Liam Gilmartin. Taken using a point-and-shoot digital camera and a small mass-market 4-inch Maksutov telescope. Simple eyepiece projection into the camera lens.
