中文：坎培拉的州徽是應澳洲聯邦的國防部要求，在坎培拉人造城完工之前，向聯邦國境內全體國民公佈坎培拉州徽設計競賽的結果，所創建、設計、製作，並送往倫敦，向王室呈報；被英國內閣會議通過；核准使用，並由皇室授權是可以代表地方性的標誌及徽章圖騰。
盾牌最上方的皇冠；象徵著皇家的權威。
盾牌中的權杖；象徵著澳大利亞聯邦國會的統治權力。
盾牌中的劍；象徵著尚方寶劍執法的權威。
盾牌中的一個城堡和三個塔，象徵著政府的三個分支（行政，立法和司法）。
盾牌中城堡下的花朵，是誰都看不出來的白玫瑰花。
白玫瑰花是為了當時1927年，英國約克公爵離開前澳大利亞聯邦舊國會的紀念標誌。約克公爵後來被加冕為英王喬治六世。
盾牌加冕鐵閘門，象徵著英國威斯敏斯特宮中傳統國會立法機關（議會）。
吊閘後面是一棵尤加利樹；又稱橡樹，長在綠草如茵的地上，代表坎培拉是不斷在成長，欣欣向榮的一個城市。
黑天鵝；是代表澳大利亞的土著，白色疣鼻天鵝；代表歐洲和在澳大利亞定居的白人，兩隻鵝各抬一隻腳支撐盾牌，代表土著和白人的共同支持的意思。
盾牌最下方的金帶上的銘文是“為皇后，法律和人民”，這句話；不是來自皇室或官方，而是一個祖籍蘇格蘭，居住在太河附近的一戶民家，在所捐贈的古董物件上的座右銘。
